She’s meant to be the wo e-of -manifestation of a collective, heroically suppressed, feminist rage, the one person ready and willing to pounce, rifle in hand, on all the hooters that holler and the rapists who rape and the creepers who look all up and down.
I thought, “Why would my friend, Red, who is super sweet, non-violent, and into meditation suggest this book to me? Animal intended to take the musical all the way to New York but immediately encountered roadblocks. What about the MTFs?

Jun 03, Laura rated it it was amazing. These things are good. And many of these gags, in fact the title of the book itself, are pretty September 10th. It’s really about recognizing the fucked up things that are happening in this world and still being able to find the love.
Honestly, I could go into a LOT of literary and gender-theological reasons about how this comic subverts gender roles, and the violence is deliberately disturbing to create a point about how often we yes, even womyn ignore similar violence when it is shown being done to womyn, but are angered and see the injustice when it’s applied to males. It could have done without adding to the marginalization of others. The interchange of DiMassa’s text and clever images makes the weight of the issues she’s tackling just a bit easier to bear.
She expresses the rage women and women-lovers feel from rampant misogyny. It features the title character wreaking violent vengeance on male oppressors.
It’s an underground womyn’s queer graphic narrative from the early 90s – in my books that’s pretty I’m forever frustrated by not bring able to give half stars! And yeah, I like rage fulfillment fantasy as much as the next marginalized queer paiwan This book is definitely violent.

If you are a person who still thinks that girls are made of sugar and spice and all things nice, what rock have you been living under? We drove eight hours just to see Ani DiFranco perform, we held kiss-in protests in front of a known skinhead house, and we made zines protesting hegemonic standards of beauty.
